Ethics & fairness when using AI in HR

AI in HR directly affects decisions about people — who gets hired, evaluated, or let go. This is the area that demands the most caution when applying AI.

The most important principle: AI should only support screening and summarizing information, never be the final decision-maker about a person. Always have a real human review before it affects someone's job opportunity or evaluation.

Watch out for bias: if a company's historical data has a skewed pattern (e.g. rarely hiring women into technical roles), AI trained on that data can repeat the bias without anyone noticing unless you check carefully.

Try it now

  1. 1Clearly define which decisions AI may only support, never make alone
  2. 2For every AI output involving people, always have a human review step
  3. 3Periodically check whether AI outputs show bias by gender, age, or region
  4. 4Be transparent with employees/candidates that AI is used to support the process
